Terms and Conditions of Admission

Students are accepted by London College of Science and Technology (LCST) on the basis of the following terms and conditions:

  1. Enrolling for a course at LCST constitutes a binding agreement with the student to attend and complete the course and to pay the full tuition fees.
  2. In order to enrol prospective students must complete an application form and provide copies of their qualifications together with the photo and information pages of their passport. Prospective students will be expected to demonstrate their intention to study through a proven and relevant track record of study prior to application.
  3. The College has the right to accept or reject applicants on the basis of the information provided.
  4. Prospective students for courses at level 6  of the  Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) from non-majority English speaking countries ( as defined by UKBA) must demonstrate they have an acceptable English Language Qualification at minimum B2 standard of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) through a UKBA approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) provider.
  5. Prospective students at QCF level 4 or 5 and English Language students requiring a Tier 4 student visa must demonstrate they have an acceptable English Language Qualification at minimum B1 standard of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
  6. The College decision on which qualifications are acceptable is final.
  7. All declarations made in applications for admission are accepted in good faith.   Any false or misleading declarations about qualifications or age, or failure to produce the required documentary evidence of entry qualifications, will render a student liable to expulsion from the course to which he/she has been admitted.
  8. LCST will endeavour to provide a course for all suitably qualified applicants. Where a prospective student has a disability the College will make reasonable adjustments to assist the student. If the College is unable to meet an applicant’s declared needs the applicant will be informed in writing.
  9. Students may be re-tested by the college on arrival and placed in the level most suitable to their ability, unless they have applied for and been granted an exemption by the appropriate awarding body.
  10. Students  may be required to undergo an English language test on arrival to ensure that they have sufficient understanding of the language to cope with the course.  Depending on the result of the test, they may be required to study a B2 English language course for as long as is deemed necessary to bring them up to the required standard.
  11. It is the student's responsibility to register with any relevant professional body (where applicable), or enter for any examinations held externally.
  12. Students will not be allowed to register for, or sit for, examinations unless they have paid their college fees in full.
  13. Certificate for Acceptance of Studies (CAS) letters, will only be issued to students who are in attendance of not less than 15 daytime hours (Monday to Friday) in accordance with the Home Office regulations.
  14. Students may neither drop a subject nor change from one course to another without permission from LCST.
  15. Students are required to attend classes regularly and punctually. Students from outside the European Union will require a visa to study in the UK. In accordance with its reporting obligations LCST will be required to report the names and details of any general visa student who does not attend class for 10 expected contact days to relevant statutory authorities.  This action is likely to result in such students being required by the UKBA to leave the country.
  16. Students who have been absent for more than one week due to ill health must provide a doctor’s certificate to cover the entire period of absence.
  17. Students may be excluded from attending classes unless they have paid full fees. This will result in students being reported to UKBA for non-attendance and their CAS will be withdrawn.
  18. Students must be present when the attendance register for each class attended is taken or when ID cards for that session are collected.
  19. Students who are unable to join their course at the scheduled start date must inform LCST accordingly at least two weeks prior to the start of their course.  Any applications for deferment of the starting date that are not received by this time will only be accepted at the discretion of the Principal. A £50 charge will be made when a new registration letter/CAS, for a later start date, is needed.  This will be deducted from the original deposit.
  20. Where LCST has agreed to allow a prospective student to change his/her start date, the College will not be responsible for changes made by UKBA which alter the students eligibility to pursue the course. The student will not be entitled to a refund in this instance.
  21. LCST reserves the right to cancel courses, amalgamate classes, increase or reduce the number of lectures in a week, or discontinue a course if the need arises. Effort will be made to place student in an alternative suitable class.
  22. Students who change address, telephone numbers or email address must notify LCST immediately.
  23. Students must advise LCST immediately of any change in their immigration status.
  24. Important notices are displayed on the LCST’s notice boards. It is the students' responsibility to read them.
  25. LCST will not be held liable for any property or money lost on its premises.  Students using LCST's address to receive mail are doing so at their own risk.  LCST bears no responsibility for any loss of mail belonging to a student.
  26. LCST is committed to offering an educational environment, which seeks to provide equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination on grounds of race, gender, disability, class, sexuality or religion.
  27. Anti-social behaviour, including bullying, theft and substance abuse will not be tolerated. Students who engage in such behaviour will be liable to immediate suspension/expulsion from the College. Suspended or expelled students are not entitled to any refund.
  28. All details printed in the LCST prospectus and other literatures are correct at the time of printing.  If deemed necessary, LCST reserves the right to make changes to the courses and amend the dates of courses and fees payable without prior notice. Students whose course start date has been re-arranged or delayed are liable to pay the fee applicable to their new course dates.
  29. If the application form is signed on behalf of the student by his/her sponsor/guardian/representative, or an online application is submitted, all conditions will still apply.
  30. Fees quoted for courses cover tuition only.  Registration fees with professional bodies and/or examining boards, examination fees, books, manuals, writing materials etc are not included.
  31. Tuition fees are payable in full before a student begins a course.  Students will not be allowed to sit for examination if college fees are outstanding even if the exams fee has been paid.
  32. The College Registration fee (£150) is not refundable. All students applying for a course of 6 months or more and who require a general student visa must pay the College Registration Fee. The fee does not apply on courses of less than 6 months.
  33. Any claim for a refund must be made within one month of the original registration date in the student registration letter, unless the College has agreed to a deferred start date.  Where a deferred start date has been agreed, the student is only entitled to a refund if the original refund conditions were met at the time the deferral was agreed and the claim is made within one month of the new registration date.
  34. LCST advises students who require a visa to check the guidelines for students entering the UK as tuition fees, less a £350 administration and student placement cost, are only refundable if a student has been refused entry or a Visa to enter the United Kingdom.  A refund will be made provided that all following conditions are met:
  1. Students who are late in starting their course or have been absent from classes for a period of time or have not been attending all the subjects that they have enrolled for will not be entitled to any refund or reduction of tuition fees.
  2. Students who have commenced lectures and/or used LCST documents to confirm their student status with employers, airlines or any other third parties are not eligible for a refund of tuition fees.
  3. Where a student does not use his/her CAS to obtain entry to the UK within 6 months of issue, the student is not entitled to a refund of College fees. Any subsequent application will be treated as a new application.
  4. The College is not liable for losses incurred as a result of UKBA decisions or policy and guidance changes, including decisions to limit or withdraw a sponsorship licence.
  5. If a student is required by the Home Office to leave the United Kingdom because of poor or non-attendance or because of any breach of law, tuition fees will not be refundable.
  6. A place will not be guaranteed for students who have not paid the applicable fees by the due date.
  7. Any administrative costs incurred by LCST in progressing fee payments from a student, will be payable by that student.
